Asbestos: The Hidden Killer !

Asbestos is one of the most toxic materials to have been used in industry and in construction in the last century. Its use has been banned and there are no new applications of asbestos in the EU. We are, however, left with a legacy from past use of asbestos including:-

• The health implications of past and future exposure to asbestos dust,
• There is a vast amount of asbestos containing material still in the community, and,
• There are differing public perceptions of the dangers.

The challenge for this century is to deal with the remaining material in a safe way.
