Former Railway Employee Died From Asbestos Exposure

Mr Humphries from Chard worked on the railway fitting asbestos based brakes for British Railways. The job required the use of asbestos based brake linings for the carriages.

Other jobs held included work as a plumber in the 1960’s working in old boiler houses which contained asbestos insulation.

A coroner said that Mr Humphries died due to asbestos exposure and categorised it as an industrial disease.
